How to Promote Your Discount Card Fundraiser

Promotional tips for a successful discount card sale.

The key to being able to sell discount cards is how effectively you’re able to get the word out about your project. People will need to know when your sale will happen, what you’re offering, and, most importantly, how they’ll be able to make a purchase.

Better yet, how can you utilize creative ways to have each of your students do the promoting? You'll spread the word faster by teaming up and working together as an entire group. The following suggestions can be incorporated to help your students promote your discount card fundraiser.

Make Discount Card P.A. Announcements

Arrange to have regular teaser P.A. announcements made like ‘The __________ Discount Card’ is coming soon. Save lots of bucks at your favorite businesses. Make sure you know a band member before the discount card sale starts.

“Why are some people going to get free drinks at ____________________ every time they buy a sandwich? It’s because they will have ‘The __________ Discount Card’. You can, too, if you know a band member. So approach a band member today and save big bucks at _________________, ________________, and _____________________ with ‘The __________ Discount Card’.”

Hang Card Fundraiser Posters and Flyers

Posters and flyers promoting your fundraiser should be placed in high-traffic areas, like school hallways and the front office, area businesses, bulletin boards, and doctors’ offices.

Creating Sales Prospect Lists

Have each person in your group make a prospect list. By making a prospect list up front, students may be able to think of more people to attempt to sell cards to. One secret to making a complete prospect list is to write down names as quickly as possible.

Promote Your Discount Fundraiser Early

Tell everyone you see that the __________ Card is coming. Whether you talk to them in person or even announce it on Facebook and Twitter, let people know about your discount card sale, and perhaps they'll help you spread the word as well.
