Fall Flower Fundraising 101 for Schools

Qualities that make flower fundraisers special.

Our fall flower fundraiser is now live! We know you want the inside scoop before deciding whether or not to sign up, so we’ve compiled the answers to your questions in this Fall Flower Fundraising 101 article. We discuss how it works, its success, and what flowers will be available. Once you’ve read the article and are ready to start your campaign, head over to our product fundraising page to get signed up before it’s too late- the fundraiser ends this November!

How Does a Flower Fundraiser Work?

Schools can sign up for either an online or in-person campaign. The catalog is distributed, and sales run for two weeks. If you need more time, you can extend your end date. Buyers pay upfront for the purchase of plants, bulbs, seeds, and roots. Seeds and bulbs need to be planted. Roots and other plants come dormant and require soil to rejuvenate.

Selling Flowers Online

One option is to have an online flower sale. Schools receive a personal link to their fundraising web page. Students invite friends and family to shop using social media, email, and text. On this page, buyers can browse the online store and directly purchase flowers. This allows buyers to buy on their own time.

Make Flower Sales In Person

The other option is to sell in person by showing people a printed catalog. This allows your sellers to talk about the items in the catalog, take orders, and collect money on the spot.

Why Flower Fundraising?

Selling flowers is one of the less popular fundraising methods, but that doesn’t mean it is less profitable. It can be quite a success. Flower fundraisers work for many reasons, only one of which is that they are beautiful. Flower sales are unique, fun, versatile, and eco-friendly. This campaign also brings in a 50% profit margin for participating schools.

Unique

A flower sale is a unique campaign method. Everyone knows another candy or gift fundraiser is just around the corner. But when will they have the opportunity to buy fresh flowers from the comfort of their home?

Fun

Buying flowers is fun. A bouquet on the table brightens up any room and lightens any day. They are also fun to give as a gift to a loved one, parent, friend, or neighbor.

Versatile

Flowers are a versatile product. They can be given as a birthday gift, a holiday, or just because. They are gifted for sympathy and to wish ill friends to get well soon. They can be used to brighten up a living room or to add elegance to a dinner party. There are many reasons to purchase flowers; your sellers must help the buyer find theirs.

Eco-Friendly

Our flower sales are environmentally friendly. This is because we don’t participate in unsustainable cut flower bouquets. Cut and rooted flowers are equally beautiful, but their impacts could not differ more. Cut flowers are destructive- they don’t help improve the environment but negatively affect it. Since we provide seeds, bulbs, and dormant plants, our sales help the environment instead of harming it. This means you can feel good about the product you are selling.

What Holiday Flowers Are Available?

Instead of doing a fall flower fundraiser, what about focusing on selling just holiday flowers? 30% of yearly flower sales occur for Christmas and Hanukkah. Available for sale are paperwhites and amaryllis. Varieties include:

  • Red Lion
  • Apple Blossom
  • Star of Holland
  • Paperwhites
  • Double Variegated
  • White
  • Orange
