Chicago Style Popcorn Ordering Guide
How to order Chicago style popcorn
Since you’re going to provide the popcorn to your students up front to sell, how much should you order? This is where our Chicago style popcorn ordering guide can help. There are 2 factors to consider, group size and how much each student is going to sell.
Knowing these 2 things will additionally help you compute your potential earnings. You’re also eligible for price discounts, depending on the size of your order.
Each student should be able to sell at least 10 bags. To calculate your case order quantity, multiple the number of sellers in your group by the number of bags that you want them to sell. Since there are 16 bags in each case, you’ll then divide that number by 16.
Let’s take a sponsor with a group size of 60 students who wants each student to sell 10 bags:
10 bags / student x 60 students = 600 bags
600 bags ÷ 16 bags / case = 37.5 cases (Round up to 38 cases)
Selling 38 cases means that the group would end up profiting $3,040.00 after factoring in their 50% profit (See our Chicago style pricing & profit table):
38 cases x 16 bags / case = 608 bags
608 bags x $10 / bag = $6,080.00 gross sales
$6,080.00 gross sales x 50% profit = $3,040.00 profit
